Akashi Sake Cask is a real rarity. It is not often that you find whiskies that have been matured in sake casks.
The distillery was founded in the 17th century by the Urabe family. Since then, various alcohols have been distilled in the city of Akashi. The White Oak Distillery was the first to receive a license to distill and produce spirits in Japan in 1919. Initially, however, they produced Shoshu and Sake. It was not until 1984 that the White Oak Distillery began producing whiskey near the port of Kobe.
